Pre-owned pieces offer two things a new commission cannot. The first is value, since fine jewellery does not carry the immediate depreciation that applies to most purchases, so a pre-owned piece typically represents better stone for the money. Under candlelight or a restaurant table they do something no modern stone does, throwing broad flashes of colour rather than white light.
